Colloidal (Ionic) Silver

This is the result of an electrolysis process that liberates microscopic ions of silver into a solution of distilled water. All ionic silver is in essence a combination of both ions and particles, typically, in the range of  80%-95% and 5%-15% particles. The only way to detect the particle content of silver is by shining a laser light through the solution. This will enable you to see the Tyndall effect, when the beam will strike the particles and the light will be reflected off these particles producing a matt defused beam with no large particles indicated by 'sparklers'. This is an excellent indication of high quality Colloidal Silver. Although, the ionic element cannot be detected by a laser light due to the ions being too small to be seen by the naked eye. However, a PPM meter can trace the dissolved solids (ions). Most PPM meters are calibrated for salt solutions and are not specifically accurate enough to give a TRUE reading of silver ion content in the solution but are a good 'rough guide' indicator.

Ionic Silver will be translucent (clear) up to 25ppm. The size of each cluster of ions in ionic silver is typically in the range of 0.001 to 0.01 microns (10-100 angstroms) which in itself is meaningless unless you have something to compare this with. If we take the size of a virus, of which, range from 200 to 3000 angstroms in size along with bacteria ranging from 2000 to 30000 angstroms. Taking this as a comparison, you will see that both ionic and particle silver are extremely smaller if the ionic silver is properly processed it will be therefore be crystal clear as the particles are so small no light is reflected thereon. In our particle silver (aka True Colloidal Silver), the colour will light golden for the 10ppm solution and darker golden in the 25+ppm solution.

For topical applications and utilization in the eyes, ears and nose we recommend our clear ionic colloidal silver. 

True Colloidal Silver

As with ionic this is produced by electrolysis with added procedures which results in a much higher level of particle silver to ionic silver. Typically upwards of 50% particulate and due to the higher abundance of cluster of silver there is a shift in colour from clear to yellow. This is the Plasmon Resonance Effect whereby the size of silver particle that best absorbs the indigo light leaving its inverse colour yellow to be observed. The typical size of each particle is .01 to .001 microns (10-100 angstroms).

Debate

Most of our experience has been in the production and usage of clear ionic silver which we know to be effective, particularly on the skin (on rashes, cuts, burns, etc) and in the eyes, ears and nose.

There is much debate over which silver is better.

Advocates of True Colloidal Silver claim the particles of silver are more stable whilst advocates of ionic silver claim that the smaller clusters of ions make them more effective. Our experience has taught us that both products are effective and make no judgement call on either product.

Reactions

There are no known reactions to taking medications in conjunction with using Colloidal Silver. Allergies to silver are rare, however, if any side effects occur, stop immediately.
